Matthew Scott Porter was born July 14, 1979 in Omaha, Nebraska.
While people nowaday are obsessed with the 'anti-hero' persona, this great young actor said the reason he was drawn to his character on Friday Night Lights is because Jason Street is a hero everyone can root for. The struggles of his character after suffering a debilitating injury is real and inspiring, and Scott does not disappoint the show's amazing writers in his portrayal of the true hero.
After two and a half great seasons on the show, Scott's character has evolved and naturally grown out of the show. I hope the FNL will revisit his character later down the road, but for now, I gotta say, I'm gonna miss him!
Scott also played the character of Matthew in the off-Broadway musical comedy Altar Boyz.
